ļ»æToday's episode is all about showing up live with just showing up in your business. And I'm recording this episode in the moment because I have had a lot of questions. I've been doing a lot of coaching calls lately, whether they be one on ones or group coaching calls inside my PR club. And it's just a common sort of observation that I have at the moment with a lot of specialists who are incredible human beings do incredible things in their business, but one thing they aren't doing is showing up and I mean showing up online doing Instagram stories during Instagram lives. Now normally when I record a podcast episode, I will usually have just a couple of dot points written down or I might have a blog in front of me which I can refer to. But today, folks, I am just doing this blind out of my sheet, my brain power, what's in my head from memory, because it's really, really relevant right now. And what I want to put out there is you need to show up. You need to be front of mind for your potential customers. It's also a great way to build up the know like and trust factor when people are seeing your face. They're listening to you. They are relating to you. And it's that consistency. They keep seeing you they're going to buy from you. They're going to think well okay, I've just hurt my shoulder. I need to go and see that physio who was just showing up on my Instagram stories or I'm really stuck in my business. This particular leadership coach continues to show up in my stories in my feeds, she or he is front of mind. I will give them a call and people really underestimate the power of this and I can speak firsthand that, you know the power of about the power of showing up so in February last year, so 2022 I actually launched a course and it was called Pitch to Press and I launched I did Facebook ads I kind of I don't know started a little bit late in the piece. I think I started promoting it maybe mid January and the course kicked off in on the first of February. Do you want to know how many sales I made? Zero, not one person signed up to the course. And I think now well you know like a year later I've made over six figures just from online courses memberships, online coaching to go from zero to over sick well over six figures online. This stuff works and there's so many things right? It's like people always say to me, what's the one thing that you should do in your business? There is not one thing, it's all the things but there's one common theme, whether it be going on someone's podcast, whether it's putting yourself out there in the media whether it's recording your own podcast writing a blog, or going live on Instagram or or using stream yard to go live on LinkedIn or Facebook. There's one common theme here and that is showing up.
People will buy from people I was talking to some real estate agents recently and gosh, there's some incredible real estate agents in the room. They were and a lot of them are just scared to show up on Instagram. And the reasons vary, but some of the feedback I got from them was was boring. I'm letterbox dropping or I'm just you know, doing an open home. People are genuinely interested in what you do. And if you can take them behind the scenes. It's just a great way to take them on the journey. People love it but just generally curious creatures are right. And if I can see you in your office, getting your leaflets ready, then you're out on the streets doing some letterbox dropping or you're maybe about to do an open home. I find that genuinely interesting. And people really underestimate it. And so whether you're in a clinic if you are a psychologist, you've got to talk to patients or at the end of your day or you're starting your day.
Get your camera out and just go and do an Instagram story and say here I am in the office I've had a great morning would be a bit hectic trying to get the kids to school today but a full day I've seen clients I'm hoping to have a break when they go out for a nice walk. Just that kind of boring stuff people love. In fact, I've been doing a few of these posts lately where I'll even just do a static image and like throw my microphone around. Because I'm so excited. I'll do a static image and I'll just put a couple of bullet points about what my day entails that day and it might be I'm getting a facial today I'm recording a podcast episode I am writing a blog putting an email out and it gets the most amount of engagement when I put a post out like that. And even better if you can then do a video of it. And look I'm not going to lie. At first it is hard. It's hard to just show up. There's a lot of imposter syndrome which takes over even for the most confident people out there like myself, but it's just a matter of getting into the habit of showing up and literally documenting so so just make a little note in your diary and think I'm going to stop at this time. I've got a lunch break. And I'm literally going to document what I've done today or what I'm doing today, or even just a thought that you have. And this is a thought I've got right now about showing up which is why I'm recording this podcast episode right now because it's top of my mind, and it just doesn't frustrate me. Yet frustrates me but also motivates me when I'm doing these coaching calls with incredible professional people who are so talented at what they do and I'm sure if you're listening to this, you are one of those people right because you're my people listening to my podcast episode. Don't hide away your talents. Don't also go on a ranch now. Don't take photos of scenery without you in it. Yeah, sure. It might be nice or at the beach, do a selfie do a video. People wants to see you and gosh I can't even count the amount of memberships I've joined in the last 12 months masterminds courses that I've bought a million of them as a result of me seeing someone on camera talking about what they're doing what they can offer for me. What they've achieved that transformational story that before and after. And then I will as a consumer go wow I like this person. I like how they put it on the line. I like how they show humility. I want to buy from them. Look what they've been able to achieve. They're an inspiration. So don't underestimate the power of showing up on video. And even if you think it's boring routine, your audience is genuinely interested in that. And of course you can do some things which aren't on video, but I definitely encourage you as a priority to do video. You don't have to have makeup on I have other filters for that right. That's one of the feedback pieces. I get from a lot of women in particular they'll say oh, I have to get my hair done. I do my makeup. Look. I understand. So a I use filters. I've done a video without any makeup on and put a filter over it looks like I'm fully made up. I don't want that to stop you from showing up people are more interested in what you have to say. Do whatever you need to to be able to show up to feel confident. put a filter on but Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours right?
People can easily just keep on scrolling, but it's just a matter of you showing up being front of mind saying something which is interesting and it might be just documenting your day. I can't stress enough it's just document document. People really will buy from you if they resonate with you. So you can do a static post if you need to. Even just a photo of what you're doing in the office. There's some reels that you can do as well we can do reels that have a template in them. But as much as possible to show your face whether it's a still photo or even better a video with your blog post put a little photo up there review. You can't put and people will laugh when they hear this. My friends. They think that I put myself out there too much. I don't care. They can say that. As much as they like that. I'm always saturating their feeds. Because folks it works. I set a target with my PR club which is just about all it's just launched actually, prclub.com.
Today you by the way, if you'd like to join $97 a month you lock in that price, and you lock that in for life. It's going up to 197 a month on the 31st of March. But I want to 10 people in the PR club by the time it launched on the 21st of Feb, which was the first master class and have 30 had over 30 And that is because like the goalposts keep moving right I thought we're gonna get to 20 and then it got to 30 I kept showing up. I kept doing the reels I kept doing the videos, I kept going live I kept doing the stories, I kept doing carousels. I was just putting my podcast out there. I was talking about it at every opportunity and it works if you want to get more leads sales and clients start showing up more. I can't stress this enough. Don't waste your talents. And this is why I started the PR club because they're the world's biggest secrets out there who aren't promoting themselves and a friend of mine. I won't mention his name, but I recently kind of helped him a little bit with putting some submit a submission together for an awards for some national awards, caught my eye over his over his application. And one of the things that he kind of realized after putting everything together and he was trying to get testimonials together and photos was that he doesn't promote his business very well at all. And that's a shame because he's really incredible at what he does probably the best in Australia. But yeah, sure once you're in that world, you know about that, but the average person out there who needs this, he needs you and your service. How do they know about you if you're not showing up? So don't ever think that it's too much. Don't ever think you're too much. The right people will find you, you will attract those people who need you.
I had a woman recently who join my PR club. She's amazing. I won't mention her name, but she was one of the first to join the PR club actually. And she said she sent me an audio message via Instagram and said, I have been searching for you for years. She resonated with me. She's got a couple of toddlers like I do. She wants to do what I'm doing. She doesn't work in my space, but she wants to do the same sort of marketing that I'm doing and she jumped into my papers because then bought the PR club, same day and made my January actually hearing this feedback. But she related to what I had to save just from seeing my story seeing my content. You can do that too. Don't hold back. All right. Rant over. I think pretty well actually almost 12 minutes without any notes, any bullet points just literally in my head. It's super fresh. It's super important. Start showing up. If you are listening to this. I want you to finish this episode and just get your phone and tell a story on Instagram and post it we want to hear from you don't be the world's best kiss kept secret anymore. Let me know how you go would love to start seeing your stories on Instagram and enjoy the rest of your day.
